Gifts Exchange Create Crochet Team

Categories :

In August, I took part in a market bag gifts exchange on Ravelry. The next month, we exchanged cowls/ scarves. This inspired me to have our second gifts exchange in my Etsy team, “Create Crochet”.

When I announced the team swap, around 17 people showed interest in it. We asked questions about favourite colors, what to exchange, allergies if any & location. We finally decided on making a surprise fall package for our partner. Based on these factors, we finally had an awesome team gifts exchange wherein a partner was assigned to each person. Everyone had so much fun.

Because we had an odd number, I ended up without a partner. But when I wrote this in our team FB group, not 1 or 2 but 3 of my teammates said they would be willing to be my partners too. Yay! for me. I love exchnging gifts & 3 partners…. simply WOW!!!!

Now, the question was, what do I make for them. My partners were Cathy, Gina & Jurgita. Thankfully, none of my partners are allergic to any fiber so it gave me a lot of freedom about what fibers I could use to make their gifts. They didn’t know that I was not just thinking about crocheted gifts but a mix of other handmade gifts too. I wanted my gift partner to have a bit of India in their gifts . So I added an Indian inspired gift to each of my partner’s package. ;)

Cathy loves everything pink, purples & all shades in between. She loved to have a gift that she could wear like a scarf or a cowl, maybe. So I made her a cowl with shades of purple & white with a shells design. Yup, I made a new design. Her favorite animal is “Meow” ;) I scratched & scratched my head about how I can use her meow in my design. So I made a kitty stitch marker for her in a pretty lilac shade of purple.  I used this design that I found on ravelry to make it. For the Indian gift, I made a pair of cerise pink rhinestone with golden zircon applique earrings for her. Here’s Cathy with my gifts:

Gina loves all earthy & jewel tones of colors. She says that she makes crocheted stuff for everyone. But she rarely makes anything for herself. Totally my kind of story. She would love to have something as a gift that she can either wear or use for herself like a scarf, hat or bag, maybe. I made a chunky slouchy hat for her in shades of brown, coffee & beige with a huge pompom. Yup, another new design. For the Indian gift, I made a pair of paisley designed earrings which are brown and gold in color with zircon & golden rhinestones. I made a small stone animal beaded stitch marker for her so she can use it for counting stitches while she makes her awesome amigurumi. I’ll show you her gifts once she receive her package.

Jurgita loves dark blue & sea green colors but wanted me to make something for her which is colorful as she lives in Iceland & she says that mostly people wear darker colors there so she wanted me to give her some color :P. So I made a turquoise blue & red colored slouchy hat with a huge red pompom. We’re also friends on FB & saw thar she has one of the cutest daughter. So I wanted to add a small gift for that young lady. I made a large rose headband as a gift for her which is teal in color with white circles headband. Yup, another new deisgn, lol ;). For the Indian gift, I made a darker sea green colored pair of earring made of rhinestones & golden zircon.
