Story Sundays – Project Gratitude Scarf

Categories :

The story that I’m going to tell you this Sunday is of my scarf pattern, “Project Gratitude”. In 2009, my crochet team “CreateCrochet” on Etsy organized a charity for Operation Gratitude. As a team, we donated hand knit/crocheted scarves. These scarves were included in care packages for military service men and women.

This charity event inspired me to create this scarf. I wanted to make a scarf which was unisex as I didn’t know if the person who was going to use my scarf was going to be a man or a woman. I still remember the enthusiasm of the entire team in coming up with 50 plus scarves that we were going to send to Kristin, who in turn would personally deliver the scarves to this charity.

I strongly beleive that the gratification that comes from doing something for someone without the thought of getting anything in return is the best feeling in the world. It is truly said that in order to live life fully, one must have an attitude of gratitude. I named this scarf, “Project Gratitude” as it symbolizes gratitude towards the service men & women who give so much for our countries without getting anything in return.
